About.
Our Why
Communication is the essential skill that connects people and drives relationships in veterinary medicine. Yet, too often, it is undervalued. We believe communication must be treated as a critical competency across the profession. Effective communication improves patient care and safety, enhances client trust and experience, cultivates healthier high-performing teams, and supports professional satisfaction, resilience, and sustainability.
What is the ACVM?
The Association for Communication in Veterinary Medicine (ACVM) is a non-profit dedicated to advancing communication as a critical clinical skill in veterinary medicine.
We translate peer-reviewed research into practical tools and strategies, offer education that makes evidence-based approaches accessible to every role, and support the integration of communication into veterinary education, clinical practice, and organizations that shape the field.
By strengthening communication, we help improve patient care, enhance client experience, build healthier teams, and support career sustainability.
